About 45 minutes outside of Los Angeles, located in the high desert, are the Vasquez Rocks and Tataviam Indian sites. The rocks were formed millions of years ago and they’re unique for their jagged edges. They’re also pretty easy to walk up and climb with wide, flat spaces, making them great for kids! Of course, always make sure to provide parental guidance! Vazquez Rocks are also a popular filming location for countless movies and TV shows, including one of our favorites, Friends!! They even used the location as inspiration for the backdrop for Pixar’s Cars and Radiator Springs! The rocks are located in a tiny western town, called Agua Dulce, which is a great little escape from the city. There are a few restaurants, a grocery store and a hardware store! There’s also a charming winery, Agua Dulce Winery, with animals and horseshoes out back. We grabbed a glass of wine, cheese and crackers and enjoyed a few hours overlooking the desert while Romeo ran around and played. If you’re in LA with kids, looking for a change of scenery or a cool place to take photos, definitely check out Vasquez Rocks!
