For our latest LA with Kids, we hit LA’s Olvera Street. Olvera Street is a really cool Mexican market and a big piece of history in downtown Los Angeles. The charming street market is located in the oldest part of Los Angeles and the original buildings, including the Avila Adobe built in 1818, are still standing! The streets are tree-lined and colorful vendor stands, selling traditional Mexican trinkets and souvenirs, pave the way to a beautiful park at the end. Romeo picked out a plastic motorcycle toy over the amazing hand-crafted toys!! Seriously?! But to him, the shiny bike was exactly what he wanted, can’t argue with that! I left with the most perfect party supplies for our Cinco de Mayo bash! You can score some awesome leather and suede goods in a few of the stores too! And don’t even think about leaving without a visit to Mr. Churro! Absolutely amazing stuffed churros, ice cream and other treats! We ended our trip with a margarita and delicious lunch at one of the many restaurants on Olvera Street. We truly had a wonderful day and loved being immersed in such a vibrant piece of LA’s history! I highly recommend taking your kids here for an afternoon!
